Meissner Races to Gold on Final Day of A-Sun Championships
The highlight of the day for the USC Upstate track and field team was a come from behind victory by junior sprinter Michael Meissner. Meissner claimed the individual championship in the men’s 400-meter dash after a school-record time of 48.51.

After day one of competition at the 2010 Atlantic Sun Outdoor Championships held at Hodges Stadium, the USC Upstate women’s track and field team sits fourth, while the men’s team is currently in fifth place. The women’s team compiled a day one points total of 17, while the men’s team tallied 13 points.

The USC Upstate track and field team will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. for the two-day Atlantic Sun Outdoor Championships. The championship event will kick-off on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. with the women's heptathlon at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida.

Chelulei Races to Victory at Charlotte Invitational
Sophomore distance runner Carolyne Chelulei won the 3000-meter run in record-setting fashion at Saturday's Charlotte Invitational. Chelulei won the event with a time of 10:13.74 which is nearly 20 seconds ahead of the school record that was set by teammate Jemeli Sang at the 2009 49er Classic.

The USC Upstate track and field team will travel to Charlotte, N.C. for Saturday's Charlotte Invitational. It will be the second trip of the outdoor season to Charlotte and joining the Spartans at the meet will be fellow A-Sun member Campbell.
