MACON, Ga. – Members of the USC Upstate track & field programs picked-up three of the four Atlantic Sun Conference Indoor Track & Field weekly awards as Kenny Sugishita was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Week, Matt Johnson was selected the Men's Track Athlete of the Week and Dominique Nock earned Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors as announced by the league Wednesday afternoon.

This marks Sugishita's third career indoor weekly accolade. The senior turned in strong performances for the Spartan men at Clemson's Orange & Purple Winter Classic Dec. 1. He took first place in the weight throw with a toss of 16.47-meters (54-00.50). In the shot put, Sugishita came in third with a hurl of 15.24-meters (50-00.00).

Johnson's first indoor A-Sun honor comes after a record-setting performance in Upstate's first meet of the 2012-13 campaign. The junior earned top honors in the 500-meter dash at the Orange & Purple Winter Classic with a program-best time of 1:05.00. He edged his previous school record mark of 1:05.08 that he posted at the 2011 edition of the Orange & Purple Winter Classic. Johnson also competed in the 4x400-meter relay Dec. 1, teaming with Jake McKown, Tracy Fisher and Carlton White to post a time of 3:27.77.

In her first collegiate competition, Nock led the way for the Upstate women at Clemson's Orange & Purple Winter Classic Dec. 1, breaking three school records on the day. The rookie posted a program-best time in the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 7.81. The previous record was 7.97 set by Gabby Walker at the Atlantic Sun Indoor Championships in 2010. Nock qualified for the finals, where she came in seventh-place with a time of 7.84. In the long jump, the Griffin, Ga., native turned in another school record performance with a leap of 5.35-meters (17-06.75) to place fifth. The previous school-best mark of 4.94-meters (16-02.25) was recorded by Shawanda Stokes at Clemson's Tiger Paw invitational last season.

Nock teamed with Ashley Edmond, Semaj Tolliver and Sarah Thomas in the 4x400-meter relay and crossed the line eighth with a school record time of 4:10.37. The previous program-best time of 4:11.40 was posted at the A-Sun Championships in 2008.

Upstate returns to action, traveling to Johnson City, Tenn., for ETSU's annual Niswonger Invitational Jan. 18-19. Follow the Spartans this season on your mobile device, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
