LakePoint, Ga. – USC Upstate freshman Sarah Hill has been named the ASUN Women's Track and Field Most Outstanding Freshman Performer, league officials announced on Friday morning. Hill is the first student-athlete in program history to earn the honor.
"This is a program first," head coach Carson Blackwelder said. "Sarah had two amazing races to take home two conference titles. She stepped up at the right time and has made huge improvements since stepping onto our campus."
At the ASUN Outdoor Track and Field Championships last weekend, Hill set two school records as she won the women's 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. She recorded a time of 11.49 in the 100-meter dash, besting the previous school record of 11.67 which she set earlier this season. Hill lowered the school record in the 200-meter dash to 23.63, besting her previous school record mark of 23.99. Additionally, Hill was part of the 4x100-meter relay team that finished in third place.
Hill will compete in the 100-meter dash at the NCAA East Preliminary Meet in Tampa, Fla. next week.
