Spartans Have Solid Start at NCAA East Preliminaries on Thursday

Tampa, Fla. – The USC Upstate track & field teams had three student-athletes in action on Thursday at the NCAA East Preliminaries. Noah Walker and Tanner Saunders both ran in the men's 400-meter hurdles while Sarah Hill ran in the women's 100-meter dash.

"All three competed in hot conditions today," head coach Carson Blackwelder said. "This was a great building block for these three. This experience competing at this level will pay off in the year to come."

Hill finished in 40th place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.66. It is her second-fastest time of the season as well as the second-fastest in program history.

Walker finished in 32nd place in with a time of 52.49, which is his personal fourth-fastest time. Saunders scored a 48th place result with a time of 1:00.37.

USC Upstate's fourth and final NCAA East Preliminary qualifier Kennedy Holton will run in the women's 100-meter dash on Friday at 12:30 p.m.
