Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate baseball team will play a pair of midweek games as the Spartans travel to UNC Asheville on Tuesday before hosting Charleston Southern on Wednesday. Both games are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
Upstate is 16-22 overall after losing two of three games last weekend at No. 29 Florida Gulf Coast. The Spartans won Friday night's matchup 3-1 thanks to a career-high 7.2 innings pitched by Kevin Hickey in which the Fairfield, Conn. native allowed only one unearned run on five hits.
UNC Asheville is 14-21 on the season after losing a series last weekend at High Point. The Spartans lead the all-time series 16-7 after scoring six unearned runs in a 10-9, 12-inning win at Harley Park on Feb. 22.
Charleston Southern is 17-18 following a 7-5 loss to Gardner-Webb on Saturday. Wednesday's game was originally scheduled for March 21 but was postponed due to rain. This will be the rubber match of a three-game midweek schedule between the teams. The Buccaneers won the first meeting 4-3 on March 1 followed by a 10-4 Upstate win in Lexington, S.C. on March 28.
