Spartanburg, S.C. – USC Upstate will conclude an eight-game homestand this weekend as the Spartans welcome Seton Hall, Pittsburgh and Xavier to Harley Park this weekend. The weekend begins Friday at 4 p.m. against Seton Hall followed by a 4 p.m. matchup against Pittsburgh on Saturday and a 1 p.m. Sunday contest with Xavier.
USC Upstate is 2-2-1 following a 9-5 win over Winthrop on Tuesday. The Spartans plated five runs in the first inning including the first home run of the season for the Spartans by Devon Ortiz. Sean Hupp earned the win as he pitched five innings in relief.
Seton Hall is 1-2 after opening the season last weekend at then-No. 23 N.C. State. The Pirates dropped the first two games 8-4 and 3-1 before winning the series finale 8-6. Rob Sheppard is in his 15th season as head coach. This is the first meeting between the schools.
Pittsburgh is 3-1 with two wins over Oakland as well as one against Toledo as well as a loss to Saint Louis. Joe Jordano is in his 23rd season as head coach. The Panthers lead the all-time series 3-1 after the teams split a doubleheader last season.
Xavier is 1-3 following a 3-2 10-inning win at No. 8 Kentucky on Tuesday. The Musketeers were swept at No. 5 Florida State to open the season. Billy O'Conner is in his first season as head coach. Xavier leads the all-time series 3-0 after sweeping a weekend series at Harley Park in 2016.
