LakePoint, Ga. – USC Upstate senior catcher Charlie Carpenter was named ASUN Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday. It is the first weekly honor for Carpenter in his career.
In four games last week, Carpenter recorded a .600/.667/733 slash line. In USC Upstate's 14-2 win over Longwood on Friday, Carpenter tied his career-high with five hits as he went 5-for-5 with three singles, two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored. On Saturday, the Winter Springs, Fla. native went 3-for-3 with three singles and an RBI in a 3-1 victory. Carpenter, the ASUN Preseason Player of the Year, is third in the league with a .409 batting average and second with 13 RBI.
USC Upstate will have four games this week, beginning with a trip to Charleston Southern on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Spartans will face Penn in a series at Harley Park this weekend.
