Incoming Spartan Ty Greene Nets All-State Honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ­– Incoming USC Upstate men's basketball player Ty Greene (Knoxville, Tenn.) earned all-state honors after helping guide Bearden High School to a 35-3 record and a berth in the Class AAA State Championship Game.

Greene signed with Upstate during the early sign period and is part of the Spartans four member signing class.  Joining Greene in Spartanburg will be Mario Blessing, Fred Miller and Adrian Rodgers.

Greene earned a spot on the TWSA All-State Class AAA team and was joined by teammate Rico White. The McDonald's All-American nominee poured in a career-best 32 points (22 in first half) against McMinn County in Bearden's 76-48 win in the state quarterfinals.  Bearden ultimately fell in the state title game to Craigmont, 61-55.

The shooting guard earned multiple accolades during his senior campaign.  He was named the MVP in the district round of the state playoffs and earned all-tournament honors in the regional round.  After guiding Bearden to a regular-season championship he earned all-district honors.  Greene also earned all-tournament honors at the Island Jam and Super 16 Tournaments.
