The Spartans picked up their first-ever win over the Bucs last season with a thrilling 60-59 victory in the Hodge Center on Dec. 5, 2010. Torrey Craig (Great Falls, S.C.) paced the Spartans with 18 points and 15 rebounds, but it was Chalmers Rogers (Fort Mill, S.C.) lay-up with three seconds remaining that lifted the Spartans to the one-point win.
The two squads have had tight contests in the Hodge Center as neither team has won by more than six points and the average margin of victory is just 3.3 points. Prior to last season's win by Upstate, ETSU had won the three previous meetings in the Hodge Center. On Mar. 3, 2008, the Bucs were victorious in overtime by a score of 86-80. ETSU won by five points (66-61) on Feb. 19, 2009 and claimed a one-point victory (63-62) on Jan. 4, 2010.
