Spartans, Bisons Set for Wednesday Night Showdown

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's basketball team continues its conference season on Wednesday evening when the Spartans travel to Nashville, Tenn. for a 7:30 p.m. EST contest against the Lipscomb Bisons at Allen Arena.

USC Upstate is playing its fourth conference road game of the season on Wednesday after splitting a pair of games last week at home against Jacksonville and North Florida. In the win over Jacksonville last Thursday, Deion Holmes had a career-high 28 points and nine rebounds while Mike Cunningham scored 26 points and became the 22nd player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. On Saturday against North Florida, the Spartans had five players score in double-figures for the third time this season led by Holmes with 16 points.

Malik Moore is one of four players averaging in double-figures this season with a team-leading 14.0 points per game. Holmes contributes 13.0 points per game while Cunningham adds 12.6 and Jure Span 10.0. Moore also leads the team in rebounding at 6.0 per game.

Lipscomb currently sits at 12-8 on the season and 2-3 in conference play with wins over Kennesaw State and Stetson. The Bisons are led offensively by Garrison Matthews with 22.7 points per game while Eli Pepper contributes a team-leading 7.9 rebounds per game. Lipscomb is under the direction of fifth-year head coach Casey Alexander.

USC Upstate is facing the Bisons for the 21st time in program history with Lipscomb leading the all-time series 11-9.
