Rain Associated With Hurricane Kyle Causes Hawks Invitational To Be Delayed

Sept. 28, 2008

North Falmouth, Mass. - Heavy rain associated with Hurricane Kyle located off the New England coast has caused the cancellation of the first round of the Hartford Hawks Invitational Sunday. The USC Upstate men's golf team is one of 23 teams participating in the tournament.

With the cancellation of Sunday's first round, the tournament will begin Monday morning and will be shortened to a 36-hole event and played at the Ballymeade Country Club on Cape Cod. The weather for Monday and Tuesday in the Cape Cod area is expected to be partly cloudy with showers diminishing early Monday morning.

Upstate is playing its third tournament of the season. The Spartans look to build on a strong start to the year with Baxter Culler placing second in the Rutgers Invitational and 11th at Sea Trail Intercollegiate, while three other Spartans having earned top-20 finishes on the year.
