Upstate Makes Return Trip to Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's golf team will make the trip to Raleigh, N.C. to play in the Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate for the third consecutive year as the Spartans appear in their second fall tournament from the par 71, 7358-yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course.

The Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate is a 54-hole tournament played over the course of two days. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Tuesday will feature 18 holes of competition with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.

Upstate is back in action for the first time since Sept. 19-20 when it hosted the Bridgestone Match Play from the Legends Course at Chateau Elan in Braselton, Ga. The Spartans finished the tournament in fourth place before falling to top-seeded Lipscomb in match play during the event's final day. Upstate was led individually by Taylor White, Matt Carter and Jordan Warnock as the trio each finished in a tie for 13th place.

At the 2015 Wolfpack Intercollegiate, the Spartans earned a ninth place showing in a field consisting of 16 teams. White concluded tournament play tied for 30th place while Trey Taylor ended in a tie for 69th position. Tom Schofield rounded out the tournament for Upstate tied for 76th place.

The Spartans will send out a five-player lineup this week consisting of White, Warnock, Taylor, Carter and Andrew Purcell. Upstate is one of 16 teams competing at the Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate along with Augusta, Campbell, Davidson, East Carolina, George Mason, George Washington, Georgia Southern, Kennesaw State, Maryland, N.C. State, Rhode Island, Temple, UNC Greensboro, Winthrop and Wofford.

The Spartans remain in the state of South Carolina Oct. 22-23 at the Palmetto Intercollegiate from the Camden Country Club.
