Upstate Completes Day One of East Bay Classic

Kiawah Island, S.C. – Jordan Warnock led the USC Upstate men's golf team on Sunday afternoon with a first round 77 as the Spartans opened play at the East Bay Classic from the par 72, 7100-yard Turtle Point Golf Club.

Upstate began the tournament with an opening round 323 and currently sits in 22nd place. Along with the 77 by Warnock, the Spartans counted scores of 78 from Andrew Purcell, 79 from Taylor White and 89 from Sean Stanistreet. Matt Carter had to withdraw from the East Bay Classic due to an injury.

White turned in a solid day on the par 5 holes as the senior carded a score of 3-under with a 4.25 stroke average and had four birdies during his opening round. Warnock posted three birdies on the day, while Purcell compiled two and Stanistreet one.

Tennessee sits atop the team standings after day one following a first round 3-under 285 and leads second place Augusta by three strokes.

On the individual leaderboard, Jack Smith of Tennessee holds a one stroke advantage over Pablo Torres of Jacksonville State at 4-under 68.

The second round of the East Bay Classic will tee off Monday morning at 10 a.m.
