TULSA, Okla. – After claiming a straight set victory in the third round of pre-qualifying, USC Upstate sophomore Matthias Kidler fell in three sets in the final round Sunday at the ITA All-American Championships.

Kidler, who received a double-bye, opened tournament play Sunday morning with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Spencer Wolf of Northwestern.  Kidler returned to the courts later in the afternoon for a match against Iowa's Will Vasos.

Kidler took the first set with ease by a score of 6-1.  However, he could not hold on and advance to the qualifying round at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center.  Vasos took sets two and three from Kidler by scores of 7-5 and 6-4, respectively.

Two other Spartans had their tournament runs ended Sunday.  Ramiro Blanco dropped a three set thriller in the third round to Wichita State's Matheus Pereira, 3-6, 7-5, 6-7 (2). Meanwhile, Edgar Rodriguez also fell in the third round to David Holiner (Texas), 6-2, 6-0.

The men's tennis team returns to action next weekend when it travels to Elon, N.C., for the Elon Invitational.
