SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Spartan Tennis Boot Camp is in full swing on the campus of USC Upstate, as the final of three summer sessions will wrap up Friday afternoon from the Upstate Tennis Complex.
The boot camp is a unique approach by the Upstate coaching staff to give young talent an idea of what it takes to become an elite player.
The boot camp is run and directed by Upstate men's and women's tennis head coach Dr. Oliver Trittenwien who has 14 years of NCAA Division I coaching experience.
In Trittenwien's second year at the helm of the Spartans' tennis programs in 2012, he recorded 19 combined wins and eight A-Sun victories. He coached Ramiro Blanco to First-Team All-Conference honors and All-Tournament honors on the men's side, while Isabel von Stryk was named Second-Team All-conference and earned All-Freshman honors on the women's side.
The tennis boot camp features talent from ages 8-18 and players who compete at the junior varsity, varsity, state and national levels. The five-day camp takes place at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex, one of the finest facilities in the Atlantic Sun that boasts 12 lighted courts.
