SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team returns to action this weekend as they travel to Knoxville, Tenn., to take part in the University of Tennessee Fall Invitational Oct. 12-14 at Barksdale Stadium.

The Spartans have appeared in four tournaments this fall and will travel to the University of Tennessee for the three-day event this weekend.

Jamie Yates posted a strong showing at Elon's Invite three weeks ago, capturing the C singles flight individual championship with a perfect 4-0 mark, while Viktor Selander simultaneously equaled his teammate with a title of his own at the Gardner-Webb Invitational. The junior transfer picked up the "Flight 2" championship with a comeback win over GWU's Enerst Alberch.

Gonzalo Blanco and Matthias Kidler will cruise into the UT Fall Invitational after taking part in the prestigious ITA Men's All-American Championship two weekends ago in Tulsa, Okla. The duo dropped opening round matches but battled back to pick up wins in the back draw.

Following play in Knoxville, the Spartans will have a weekend off before traveling to the Citadel Invitational Oct. 26-27 to put a lid on the fall season.

Admission for the Tennessee Fall Invitational is free with matches being played on campus at Barksdale Stadium and at nearby Tyson Park.
