KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – With just one match on the slate Sunday on the final day of the University of Tennessee Fall Invitational, the USC Upstate men's tennis team capped the Spartans fifth tournament of the fall season.

Playing in the doubles championship, Gonzalo Blanco and Yvon Haessig were looking to complete a perfect weekend and capture the "Orange" doubles title, but it was not meant to be as the duo fell 8-6 to Winthrop's Yuta Hirokawa and Steven Patrick.

The pair had previously knocked off a combo from Western Michigan in the opening round, before advancing to the championship match with a win over Penn State.

The Spartans return to action Oct. 26-27 at the Citadel Invitational. The two-day event will put a lid on the fall season as Upstate continues to prepare for the 2013 campaign next spring.
