SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate men's tennis head coach Dr. Oliver Trittenwein released the 2013 schedule on Tuesday afternoon that features a west coast trip and a full slate of Atlantic Sun Conference matches.
The Spartans will open the year at home, welcoming Presbyterian to town Jan. 20, before heading to the west coast for three straight matches. Upstate will play three matches in as many days in Eugene Ore., taking on Oregon (Jan. 25), Eastern Washington (Jan. 26) and Portland (Jan. 27).
After returning home for a single match against Gardner-Webb on Feb. 2, Upstate will hit the road again for three matches, this time staying in the Carolinas. The Spartans will take on Coastal Carolina Feb. 8, UNC Wilmington Feb. 9 and cap the three-match road swing with Winthrop on Feb. 15.
Upstate will finish non-conference action at home against Georgia Southern (Feb. 16) and Texas-Pan American (March 13), and on the road against UNC Asheville (March 1) and Elon (March 9).
The Spartans will open the A-Sun portion of their schedule at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex, welcoming ETSU (March 2) and North Florida (March 23) to town before hitting the road for Florida Gulf Coast University and Stetson the final weekend of March.
One last home stand against Northern Kentucky and Lipscomb will kick off the month of May, before the Spartans cap the regular season on the road at Kennesaw State and Mercer.
The 2013 A-Sun Tennis Championship will take place on the campus of ETSU in Johnson City, Tenn., on Apr. 19-21.
