Monterey, Calif. – Amanda Hall shot a final round 79 and finished tied for fourth to lead the USC Upstate women's golf team to a third-place finish in the Monterey Bay Invitational Tuesday afternoon.
The Monterey Bay Invitational was played on the Del Monte Golf Course, part of the Pebble Beach Golf Links and Resort. It was the original course at Pebble Beach and has a storied history.
Upstate shot a final round 333 and finished third with a 987 total. Northern Colorado won the tournament with a 952 total after shooting 308 on Tuesday. The Bears took the lead on Monday and held on for the win.
Western Illinois was second at 968 and was followed by Upstate (987), Drake (991), Cal State Bakersfield (1006) and South Dakota (1017).
Hall (Tega Cay, S.C.) saved her best round of the tournament for her last. She shot a 79 for the second-lowest round in the tournament for the Spartans. She finished tied for fourth with a 242 total.
Taylor Barnes (Spartanburg, S.C.) claimed a Top 10 finish. She shot an 85 on Tuesday for a 54-hole total of 245. Rachel Reiling (Littleton, Colo.) was tied for 15th with a 249 total. She shot an 84 in the final round. Malika Allie (Cape Town, South Africa) shot an 85 on Tuesday and finished tied for 21st with a 254 total. Brittany Lowe (Spartanburg, S.C.) finished with a 258 total and a tie for 24th.
Northern Colorado's Carleigh Silvers shot a 75 in the final round to win the individual championship by 10 strokes.
