USC Upstate Announces 2018 Women’s Golf Spring Schedule

2018 Spring Schedule

Spartanburg, S.C. – USC Upstate head coach Todd Lawton announced this afternoon that the women's golf team will play six events during their spring season after appearing in five during the fall campaign.

USC Upstate will make a return trip to three tournaments from last season including the finale at the ASUN Women's Golf Championship held on the Legends Course at Chateau Elan in Braselton, Ga., April 22-24. The Spartans also return to play at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic, Low Country Intercollegiate and Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate.

"After having our best fall in school history in terms of scoring, I'm excited about our schedule and the competition we face," Lawton said. "Playing in the Kiawah, Low Country and Mimosa tournaments have been a staple in the spring season."

USC Upstate opens its spring schedule Feb. 19-20 at the Amelia Island Collegiate hosted by ASUN member Jacksonville in Amelia Island, Fla. The Spartans then close out the month Feb. 25-27 at the largest NCAA women's golf tournament this season, the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic in Kiawah Island, S.C.

The month of March will consist of two tournaments in the Low Country Intercollegiate and Red Rocks Invitational. The Low Country Intercollegiate is being held March 17-18 in Hilton Head, S.C. and the Red Rocks Invitational March 24-25 in Sedona, Ariz. USC Upstate closes out the regular season April 1-2 at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate in Morganton, N.C.

"The additions of Amelia and Red Rocks allow us to play earlier than usual and against teams we don't normally see," added Lawton. "With the ASUN back at Chateau Elan, we finish the season playing lots of great venues. I'm ready for it to begin."

The Spartans wrap up the spring at the ASUN Women's Golf Championship as one of seven teams vying for the conference title and a berth in the NCAA Regionals. USC Upstate finished in sixth place at last year's ASUN Women's Golf Championship led individually by Anna Chanthaphaeng who tied for 16th.
