Spartanburg, S.C. – Following a seven-match road trip, the USC Upstate women's soccer team returns to County University Soccer Stadium for a pair of games. The Spartans open the weekend with a visit from Stetson Friday at 7 p.m. followed by a 1 p.m. Sunday matchup with Florida Gulf Coast.
Upstate is 6-5-1 following a 2-1 win at North Florida last Friday. Jada Kinlaw scored the game-winning goal in the 85th minute to give the Spartans the win. Brooke Bailey was named the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week after she made a season-high nine saves. Upstate's game at Jacksonville on Sunday was postponed due to rain and unplayable field conditions.
Stetson is 6-2-3 overall and 1-0-2 in the ASUN after the Hatters worked a 1-1 draw against Lipscomb on Sunday. Sarah Collins leads the team with eight goals, 17 points and 39 shots. Emily Plotz leads the ASUN with 56 saves and a .889 save percentage. The Hatters are led by Manoj Khettry who is in his fifth season at the school.
Florida Gulf Coast enters the weekend with an 8-2-1 overall mark and 1-0-1 conference record. Following a postponed game against Lipscomb on Friday, FGCU shut out Kennesaw State 3-0 on Sunday. Marjorie Boilesen leads the team with seven goals and 18 points. The Eagles open the weekend at NJIT at 3 p.m. Friday and are under the direction of 10th-year head coach Jim Blankenship.
