Upstate Tops All S.C. Schools in RPI, Finishes Season Among Nation’s Statistical Leaders
Spartanburg, S.C. – After posting 39 wins and topping the 30-win plateau for the eighth time in the last nine seasons, the USC Upstate softball team finished the 2012 season as the top-ranked South Carolina school in the NCAA RPI, while the Spartans were ranked among the nation’s statistical leaders in the final report issued by the NCAA.

Robinson Named First Team All-Region; Griffin Second Team Selection
Spartanburg, S.C. - Capping a tremendous freshman campaign that culminated in earning A-Sun Freshman of the Year honors, USC Upstate outfielder Shellie Robinson was named a First Team All-Region selection by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), released the organization Thursday. Robinson becomes the first Spartan softball player to earn first team honors since moving to Division I in 2008.

Upstate Signee Miller Named Cal JC All-American and Pitcher of the Year
Spartanburg, S.C. – USC Upstate softball signee Anna Miller has capped off a tremendous season at the College of Siskiyous by earning All-America honors and being named the Pitcher of the Year among all California Junior Colleges by the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (CCCFCA), this coming as she leads the Lady Eagles into the State Championship in the Cal JC state tournament.

Spartans Fall to Lady Bisons, Eliminated from A-Sun Tournament
Spartanburg, S.C. – Lipscomb scored five runs in the third inning to gain control of the game and went on to take an 8-3 victory over USC Upstate in the first elimination game of the A-Sun Tournament at Cyrill Stadium Thursday afternoon, ending the Spartans’ season.

Upstate Set to Host A-Sun Softball Tournament
Spartanburg, S.C. - For the second consecutive year, the A-Sun Softball Championship will be held at USC Upstate’s Cyrill Stadium May 9-12 and Upstate will enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed. The Spartans open play in the tournament Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. against sixth-seeded Stetson. Fans can follow the action online at upstatespartans.com. Live stats and video on ASun.TV will be available free of charge throughout the tournament, while Saturday’s championship game will be broadcast on ESPN3 for free.

Spartanburg, S.C. – Hannah Alexander turned in another strong performance in the circle and combined with Cassee Clauser to lift USC Upstate to a shutout of La Salle in the final game of the Upstate Softball Tournament Sunday. The Spartans claimed an 8-0 victory in five innings over the Explorers.

Robinson Powers Upstate Over Liberty, Savannah State
Spartanburg, S.C. – Freshman standout Shellie Robinson knocked two home runs in each game, four on the day, to power USC Upstate to a pair of wins Saturday in the Upstate Softball Tournament at Cyrill Stadium. Robinson (DeLand, Fla.) finished with seven RBIs and seven runs in the two games, lifting Upstate to a 16-0 victory over Liberty and a 5-0 win over Savannah State.
