Spartanburg, S.C. - Coming off a 2-1 start to the A-Sun season, the USC Upstate softball team will play host to Northern Kentucky in a three-game conference series Tuesday and Wednesday before making the trip to the coast of North Carolina for a non-conference doubleheader at UNC Wilmington Saturday. Tuesday's doubleheader between Upstate and NKU will begin at 2:00 p.m., while Wednesday's single game will start at 1:00 p.m. at Cyrill Stadium.
Upstate enters the week with a 16-2 overall record and a 2-1 mark in the A-Sun after taking 2-of-3 from North Florida last weekend. NKU is 6-12 overall and will play its season opener against Upstate. UNC Wilmington is 10-12 on the year and will not play until Upstate comes to town.
Upstate owns a 5-1 lead in the all-time series with UNCW. The Spartans last played the Seahawks last year, a 5-0 victory in the Spartan Invitational at Cyrill Stadium. UNCW last defeated Upstate, 5-4, in a doubleheader split during the 2008 season, the Spartans' first playing on the Division I level.
