Upstate Headed to River City for A-Sun Showdown at Jacksonville

Spartanburg, S.C. – Riding a five-game A-Sun winning streak, the USC Upstate softball team heads to Jacksonville, Fla., to take on Jacksonville in a key three-game A-Sun series Friday and Saturday. Friday's doubleheader begins at 4:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon's single game starts at 1:00.

This weekend's series between Upstate and Jacksonville is key early in the conference season. The Spartans and Dolphins are currently tied for second at 5-1 in the A-Sun standings behind Florida Gulf Coast at 3-0. Upstate enters the game with a 21-3 overall record after dropping an 11-0 decision at No. 3 Florida Wednesday night. Jacksonville stands 21-8 overall after sweeping Cornell in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday night in the River City.

Upstate owns a 6-5 lead in the all-time series with Jacksonville. All games in the series have been played since the Spartans moved to the A-Sun in 2008. Upstate owned the series early on, winning the first four games. Jacksonville has won five of the last seven meetings. Upstate leads in scoring, 44-39.
