Complete Release in PDF Format

Spartanburg, S.C. – In what seems to be a regular occurrence when these two teams meet, the USC Upstate softball team face Florida Gulf Coast in a key three-game A-Sun series this weekend in Ft. Myers, Fla., in a battle of two of the conference's top three teams. Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 2:00 p.m., while Sunday's single game will start at 2:00 p.m. at the FGCU Softball Complex.

Upstate enters the weekend with a 36-5 overall record and is in first place in the A-Sun with a 16-3 mark. The Spartans will look to snap a two-game A-Sun losing streak, though Upstate is coming off an impressive 8-5 win at Georgia Wednesday night. FGCU enters the weekend with a 30-15 overall record and an 11-6 mark in the A-Sun. The Eagles are on a three-game winning streak after sweeping Jacksonville last weekend and have won six of their last eight games to move into third place in the conference standings.

Upstate is 5-5 all-time against FGCU. The Eagles have won three of the last four meetings and the Spartans will look to claim their first victory over FGCU in Ft. Myers.
