Spartanburg, S.C. The USC Upstate softball team will make its first road trip of the season when it makes the 30-minute trip to Boiling Springs, N.C., Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 for a non-conference doubleheader against Gardner-Webb.

Upstate enters the doubleheader with an 8-0 record after sweeping its second straight tournament last weekend in the snow-shortened Buffalo Wild Wings Spartan Invitational at Cyrill Stadium. The Spartans defeated Virginia Tech (8-1), George Mason (3-2) and Ball State (7-2) in the tournament. Gardner-Webb enters Wednesday's games with a 1-5 record. The Bulldogs split a doubleheader against Charlotte to open the season, but lost four straight at Alabama State's tournament over the weekend. Fans can follow the action live with live stats on, while will have complete postgame results.

Upstate is 36-2 against Gardner-Webb in the all-time series, 13-1 against the Bulldogs since moving to Division I in 2008. The Spartans swept both doubleheaders the teams played in 2013 and have won 12-straight in the series. The Bulldogs last defeated the Spartans in the second game of an A-Sun doubleheader in 2008, GWU's final season playing in the A-Sun.
