SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate women's tennis head coach Dr. Oliver Trittenwein released the 2013 schedule Tuesday afternoon that features 10 home matches next spring.
Following a successful fall season that saw the Spartans compete at five tournaments and claim at least one championship at each event, Upstate now turns its attention to the spring season.
Trittenwein has 12 straight non-conference matches on the slate to open the spring portion of the schedule, starting on the road at the South Carolina Jan. 21, before the squad plays its home opener Feb. 1 against UNC Charlotte.
The Spartans will hit the road for non-conference games against Presbyterian (Jan. 26), UNC Asheville (Feb. 2), Davidson (Feb. 15), Elon (Feb. 16), Jacksonville State (Mar. 1) and UAB (Mar. 2), while playing host to Wofford (Feb. 6), Coastal Carolina (Feb. 23), Converse (Feb. 23), Gardner Webb (Mar. 5) and South Alabama (Apr. 7).
The A-Sun portion of the schedule will kick off with a pair of matches at home, playing host to ETSU Mar. 16 and North Florida Mar. 23. The Spartans will also welcome Northern Kentucky (Apr. 5) and Lipscomb (Apr. 6) to the campus of USC Upstate, before ending the regular season with trips to Kennesaw State on Apr. 12 and Mercer on Apr. 13.
The 2013 A-Sun Tennis Championship will take place on the campus of ETSU in Johnson City, Tenn., on Apr. 20-22.
