MACON, Ga. – In the process of making an immediate impact during her freshman campaign, Constanze Kuerten has been selected as the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.

The freshman from Dusseldorf, Germany, picks up her first career weekly honor from the A-Sun after leading the Spartans to a 6-1 victory over crosstown rival Wofford last week.

Kuerten is the only undefeated player in the conference that has played more than two matches, sitting at 4-0 in singles action on the young season. She was unstoppable last Wednesday against the Terriers, stifling Julia Paulson 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles to stay unbeaten.

She also teamed up with Allison Beeler to record an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles, handing Upstate its fourth consecutive doubles point.

Kuerten and the Spartans return to action this weekend, traveling to the state of North Carolina to battle Davidson Friday at 5 p.m. and Elon Saturday at 10 a.m.
