SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team will take to the courts again Saturday, welcoming Coastal Carolina and Converse to town for a rare doubleheader at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.

The Spartans will battle the Chanticleers at 10 a.m. and then turn around in the afternoon for a crosstown matchup with the Valkyries. The Afternoon slate will start at 2 p.m.

Story Lines

  • The Spartans continue dominate doubles action, having won the doubles point in six consecutive matches this season. Upstate's only doubles miscue came at nationally ranked South Carolina to open the season.
  • Isabel von Stryk gave Upstate back-to-back A-Sun Player of the Week honors Wednesday afternoon when she earned the award for the first time in her career. She followed Constanze Kuerten who earned the award last week, giving the Spartans two of the four weekly honors from the conference office this season.
  • Coastal Carolina heads into weekend play at 2-2 on the year, picking up 7-0 wins against Savannah State and North Carolina A&T and falling to Furman and UNC Wilmington. The Chanticleers will take on Wofford Friday and stay in town to battle Upstate Saturday morning.
  • Converse, an NCAA Division II member, is 0-4 on the season and looking for its first win of the season this weekend. The Valkyries will host fellow DII member Erskine Friday before making their way across town to Upstate Saturday afternoon.

Last Time Out: Winter weather had its impact on the USC Upstate women's tennis team Saturday afternoon, forcing the Spartans to take their match with Elon to the indoor facility on the campus of Wake Forest where the Phoenix picked up a 5-2 victory in non-conference action.

Next Time Out: After a pair of Saturday home matches, Upstate will open the month of March on the road, traveling to Jacksonville State and UAB for back-to-back non-conference matchups away from home.
