MACON, Ga. – For the third consecutive week the USC Upstate women's tennis team is home to the A-Sun Player of the Week, as Constanze Kuerten snagged her second weekly honor of the season the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Kuerten continues to impress during her freshman campaign, winning her second weekly honor and giving Upstate three straight weekly awards after Isabel von Stryk captured the award last week. The Spartans have now won three of the five A-Sun weekly honors this season.
In a pair of home matches last weekend, Kuerten dominated in every phase of the game, going 4-0 and never dropping a set to lead Upstate to victories over Converse and Coastal Carolina.
She captured both singles matches 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot and teamed up with Allison Beeler for 8-0 and 8-4 victories in doubles action.
The Dusseldorf, Germany native is 6-2 in singles action and 7-1 in doubles play to open her collegiate career.
Kuerten and the Spartans return to action this weekend, opening the month of March on the road, traveling to Jacksonville State and UAB for back-to-back non-conference matchups.
