Clemson, S.C. – USC Upstate freshman Anna Zoske qualified for the finals of the No. 8 singles flight to highlight competition for the Spartans on day two of the Duckworth Fall Classic hosted by Clemson University.
Zoske began the day with a thrilling comeback win over Emily Dvorak of Tulane. Zoske dropped the first set 2-6, but answered by taking the second set 7-6 before claiming the tiebreaker with a 10-8 victory. She went on to defeat Christine Boissevain of UNC Asheville by a final score of 7-5, 6-1 to setup a matchup with Dora Andrejszki of Armstrong Atlantic State Sunday at 11 a.m.
Freshman Ana Baran and sophomore Sarah Vande Berg both went 1-1 in the No. 10 flight and will play each other for third place Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Senior Taylor Cohen also posted a 1-1 record on Saturday and will face Clemson's Carola Pederzani in the No. 5 flight for third place Sunday at 11 a.m.
Junior Isabel von Stryk will also have an opportunity to finish in third place when she faces Yui Lynn Miao of Clemson Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Von Stryk posted a 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 win over Darya Yakauleva of VCU in her first match, but was narrowly edged 6-1, 3-6, 10-8 by Jacqui Katz of Tulane in the semifinals of the No. 4 flight.
