Spartans Conclude Competition at Duckworth Fall Classic
Clemson, S.C. – Anna Zoske placed runner-up and Taylor Cohen took third place to highlight competition for the USC Upstate women's tennis team Sunday afternoon at the Duckworth Fall Classic from the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
Zoske opened the weekend with a come-from-behind 2-6, 7-6, 10-8 victory over Emily Dvorak of Tulane before topping Christine Boissevain of UNC Asheville 7-5, 6-1 to qualify for the finals. Zoske, however, suffered a 1-6, 1-6 setback to Dora Andrejszki of Armstrong Atlantic State Sunday afternoon in the finals of the No. 8 singles flight.
Senior Taylor Cohen posted a 7-6, 6-0 win over Olga Terteac of VCU in her first match of the No. 5 singles flight, but was unable to advance into the semifinals after she was defeated 6-4, 6-4 by Marlen Hacke of Armstrong Atlantic State. Cohen rebounded Sunday in her lone match to beat Carola Pederzani of Clemson 6-4, 6-4 en route to a third place finish.
The Spartans resume their fall schedule Oct. 16-20 by taking part in ITA Regionals from Chapel Hill, N.C.
