Spartanburg, S.C. – After playing their last five matches on the road, the USC Upstate women's tennis team returns to the USC Upstate Tennis Complex this week for a pair of matches. The Spartans will face Western Carolina at 2 p.m. on Thursday and UNCG at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The Spartans are 1-12 following a 6-1 defeat at Troy last Wednesday.
Western Carolina is 10-4 following a 6-1 win over Seton Hill on Saturday. The Catamounts have victories over Seton Hill, Lindsey Wilson, Savannah State, UNC Asheville, North Carolina A&T, N.C. Central, King, Providence, Mount St. Mary's and Haverford. Their losses have come against Eastern Kentucky, Appalachian State, Mercer and Radford.
UNCG is 1-10 following a 6-1 loss at Elon on March 7. UNCG is facing Flagler College on Wednesday and North Florida on Thursday. UNCG's lone win this season came against UNC Asheville.
Western Carolina leads the all-time series 2-0 following a 6-1 win in Cullowhee, N.C. last season. UNCG leads the all-time series 2-0 thanks to a 4-3 win in Greensboro last year.
Upstate opens ASUN play next Wednesday, traveling to Kennesaw State for a 10 a.m. match.
