Spartans Record First Victory of 2018

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team earned their first victory of the 2018 season on Friday afternoon as the Spartans knocked off Limestone 5-2.

USC Upstate improves to 1-9 while Limestone drops to 1-5.

The Spartans clinched the doubles point with wins at #1 and #2 doubles. Carol Sigaki and Vale Zarama defeated Alexandra Dolfi and Camille Haus 6-1 at the top flight. Noelia Acuna and Taylor Dodd clinched the point with a 6-0 win over Ana Chirila and Jessica Reyes Varela on the second court.

Sigaki claimed her second win of the afternoon with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph over Dolfi at #1 singles. Zarama also won two matches thanks to her 6-1, 7-5 victory over Felicitas Picinini at #3 singles. Taylor Dodd earned a hard-fought 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win over Chirila at #4 singles. Morgan Dodd was a 6-4, 6-1 victor over Reyes Varela at #5 singles.
