Haake Tabbed ASUN Defensive Player of the Week

LakePoint, Ga. – USC Upstate sophomore setter/right side Madison Haake was recognized by the ASUN Conference this afternoon as its Defensive Player of the Week following her performance last week as the Spartans picked up victories over Presbyterian College and Stetson.

The Bartelso, Ill. native compiled 31 digs and 11 blocks over the course of the week, assisting Upstate towards a 2-1 record. Haake recorded double-doubles in victories over Presbyterian College and Stetson, while her six blocks against the Blue Hose tied her career-high. Haake also managed to score six kills and dish out 118 assists in the three matches.

With the 3-2 win at Stetson on Sept. 30, the Spartans began their ASUN campaign with a 2-0 record for the first time since joining the league.

For Haake, it is her fourth career weekly honor from the conference and first as Defensive Player of the Week. She previously has been tabbed ASUN Player of the Week and ASUN Freshman of the Week twice.
