Spartanburg, S.C. – After spending the last three matches on the road, the USC Upstate volleyball team returns to the Hodge Center this weekend as it hosts the Lipscomb Bisons and Kennesaw State Owls to continue ASUN play.

Upstate starts the weekend Friday evening at 6 p.m. against Lipscomb and then proceeds to face Kennesaw State on Sunday in a 2 p.m. match.

The Spartans (11-14, 3-5) finished up a three-match road trip last Saturday, Oct. 22, with a 3-1 loss at NJIT. Madison Haake led Upstate with her 16th double-double of the season on 38 assists and 12 digs, while Emily Koelling finished one kill shy of tying her career-high with 17 and hit .389 for the match. It marked the second time this season that the senior posted 17 kills with the other coming in a home win over Charlotte. Kaleigh Kelley also had a team-high 19 digs.

Koelling enters the weekend just 21 kills away from 1,000 in her career and is looking to become the 12th player in program history to reach the milestone, and first since Kayla Eversgerd in 2014.

Lipscomb currently sits at 14-7 overall and 6-2 in the ASUN, and Kennesaw State is 13-9 on the season and 7-1 in conference play. The Spartans trail in the all-time series to Lipscomb 15-0 and 13-4 against Kennesaw State.

The Spartans close out their road schedule next weekend, Nov. 4-5, at Jacksonville and North Florida.
