Upstate Travels to Jacksonville, North Florida this Weekend for Final Road Matches

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate volleyball team closes out its road schedule this weekend as it travels to the state of Florida to face ASUN opponents Jacksonville and North Florida.

Upstate (11-16, 3-7) starts out its weekend Friday evening at 7 p.m. with Jacksonville before taking on North Florida Saturday at 5 p.m.

Emily Koelling and Kaleigh Kelley reached career milestones last weekend for the Spartans as Koelling recorded her 1,000th kill and Kelley her 1,000th dig. The accomplishments came during a 3-2 defeat to league-leader Kennesaw State. Koelling became the 12th player in program history to have 1,000 kills in her career while Kelley is the 13th player to exceed 1,000 career digs. Both are the first players to surpass their respective mark since former Spartan Kayla Eversgerd.

Madison Haake also compiled two double-doubles over the weekend and now has a conference-leading 18 on the season. Haake began the weekend with 36 assists and 10 digs during the five-set match against Lipscomb and followed with 38 assists and 12 digs versus Kennesaw State. Callie Yeargin added her seventh double-double of the season on 12 kills and 16 digs against Kennesaw State.

Jacksonville currently sits at 7-16 overall and 3-7 in the conference, and North Florida is 17-10 on the season and 7-3 in league play. Upstate trails in the all-time series to North Florida 33-7 and 13-3 against Jacksonville. The Spartans fell in the first meeting this season to North Florida 3-0 before sweeping Jacksonville 3-0 in Spartanburg.
