Greenville, S.C. – Brittney Delva scored a career-high 12 points but it wasn't enough as the USC Upstate women's basketball team lost at Furman 57-37 on Wednesday night in Timmons Arena.
Furman improves to 3-4 while Upstate falls to 3-5.
Delva's 12 points surpasses her previous best of nine points. Vanessa Agrusa led the Spartans with seven rebounds. DeNisha Swain had three assists.
Whitney Bunn scored a game-high 17 points followed by Tierra Hodges and Le'Jzae Davidson with nine points. Tiara Wood grabbed 10 rebounds.
Game Breakdown
- Furman opened the game on an 8-0 run and led 18-10 after the first quarter.
- A Riley Popplewell jumper cut the Furman lead to 23-15 with 3:35 to go in the first half. The Paladins led 28-17 at halftime.
- Swain opened the second half with a jumper to cut the Paladin lead to nine but Furman led by as many as 15 in the third quarter and enjoyed a 39-24 lead at the end of the frame.
- Delva cut the Spartan deficit to eight, 45-37, following a layup with 3:36 to play as part of an 11-4 Upstate run. Furman would end the game on a 12-0 run.
