Spartanburg, S.C. – Kennesaw State claimed an ASUN series win thanks to a 5-2 defeat of USC Upstate at Harley Park on Saturday afternoon.
Kennesaw State improves to 15-13 overall and 2-1 in the conference while USC Upstate drops to 14-14-1 and 1-2.
Scoring Breakdown
- Top 4th – Tyler Simon reached on a single with one out and scored on a Griffin Helms double.
- Top 6th – David Chabut reached on an error and scored on a Grant Williams single.
- Top 7th – Garrett Hodges reached on an error and scored on a Forrest Bramlett double. Bramlett would score on a groundout.
- Bottom 7th – Will Hardigree opened the inning with a walk and scored on a wild pitch.
- Top 8th – Williams led off the frame with a walk and scored on a Jake Franklin single.
- Bottom 8th – USC Upstate scored a run as a result of a Kennesaw State balk.

- Toran Shahidi and Kyle Gensler each recorded a single.
- Helms, Franklin and Terence Norman each had two hits to lead the Owls.
- USC Upstate left 11 runners on base while Kennesaw State stranded seven baserunners.
- Jake Rothwell (3-1) earned the win, allowing an unearned run on two hits with seven walks and seven strikeouts in 6.2 innings.
- Brian Exley (1) picked up the save with a scoreless ninth.
- Jordan Marks (1-3) took the loss, allowing three runs, one earned, on seven hits with two strikeouts in 6.0 innings.
