SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate volleyball team fell in the season finale 3-0 to Campbell University on Saturday afternoon inside the G.B. Hodge Center.
Senior's
Emily Russell and
Gloria Ikenegbu led the Spartan attack, Russell recorded 10 kills and Ikenegbu added seven kills in the match. Freshman
Annalisa Mendoza recorded 26 assists in the loss and
Mackenzie Marcum led the team with 10 digs. USC Upstate concludes the season with an 8-19 overall record and a 4-10 record in Big South competition.
Campbell (15-12, 9-5 BSC) had a pair of players end the day in double figure kills. Sarah Colla recorded 11 kills and 5 blocks, while Melody Paige added 10 kills in the contest. Madee Miner led the team with 19 assist and Elyse Gross finished with a team high 15 digs.
The USC Upstate defense out blocked Campbell 6-8 in the game with Ikenegbu leading the way with four assisted blocks. The match was tied on 11 different occasions four times the lead changed from one team to the other.
