The Upstate men's basketball team fell on the road Monday evening to Akron, 76-45. The Spartans were not able to get in a rhythm offensively, shooting just under 27% for the game (18-67).
Tommy Bruner (Fr., Columbia, S.C.) led the Spartans with 8 points and
Nevin Zink (So., Newtown, Conn.) recorded a season high 9 rebounds on the night.
Mykayle Carter (Fr., Lauderhill, Fla.) made his collegiate debut with 7 points off the bench.
Khydarius Smith (Fr., Fort Mill, S.C.) notched a career high 7 rebounds as well. Of the 11 Spartans that saw game action, 10 are either freshmen or sophomores.
Akron (3-1) was led by Loren Cristian Jackson with 18 points.
Upstate (1-4) concludes a four-game road trip, Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. against one of the nation's top teams, the 2
nd ranked Louisville Cardinals. The contest from the KFC Yum! Center will be televised on the ACC Network.
Upstate returns to the Eddie and Ann Payne Arena at the G. B. Hodge Center on Saturday, November 23
