Box Score ATHENS, Ga. – Upstate women's basketball senior Brianna Lewis led all scorers with 21 points Tuesday evening inside the Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Ga.  Georgia would close out their six-game homestand with a 67-53 victory over Upstate.

Lewis scored the 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor and connecting on her only 3-point attempt of the night.  Fellow senior Riley Popplewell had 8 points and a team high 6 rebounds while freshman Quadijah Moore also added 8 points and 5 boards.

"I am really proud of how we competed tonight! Lots of positives to build off of moving forward," noted Upstate head women's basketball coach Tammy George.

One of those positives was resiliency.  The Spartans (3-4) found themselves in an early 14-point hole after quarter one. In the second quarter, Upstate chipped away at the Bulldog lead, eventually clawing back to within three points on three occasions in the quarter, the latest coming on a Lewis jumper with 2:14 remaining in the half.  After outscoring Georgia in the second period, 19-12, the Spartans headed to the locker room trailing, 28-21.

To open the second half, the Bulldogs (4-2) went on a 13-2 run, but the Spartans scrapped back and it was Lewis again who answered the call, this time with a 3-pointer with 3:41 remaining in the third to pull Upstate within single digits.

UPSTATE – Brianna Lewis set a new season high in scoring tonight with 21, eclipsing the 20 point output against Western Carolina on November 12^th.  It is the most points for Lewis since dropping 35 on SC State on November 28 of last year.

Upstate will have a long break for Thanksgiving and exams before hitting the hardwood again, opening a three-game homestand December 14.

GEORGIA – Stephanie Paul notched a double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds). Gabby Connally led the Bulldogs with 16 points and Maya Caldwell was also in double figures with 12.
