CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The USC Upstate men's basketball team fell Saturday afternoon inside Halton Arena on the UNC Charlotte campus in a non-conference matchup. The 49ers took an 83-47 victory on the strength of 56.9% shooting from the floor.
Bryson Mozone led the Spartans with 9 points and
Tommy Bruner added 8 off the bench.
Nevin Zink recorded 6 rebounds to lead Upstate on the glass. The Spartans (1-7) shot 33.9% for the game (19-56), but just 5-of-24 from long distance.
Charlotte (3-3) raced off to an early lead and by halftime were shooting at a 68% clip. For the contest, the Niners connected on 11-of-24 three pointers (45.8%) including 7 trifectas in the first half to build the early advantage. Charlotte had five score in double figures including Malik Martin (16), Jahmir Young (12, plus 8 rebounds), Jordan Shepherd (12), Drew Edwards (11) and Cooper Robb (11).
