Spartans Suffer First Setback of the Season

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The USC Upstate women's basketball team lost 69-48 on Friday night against the East Carolina Pirates.
 
Kathryn Kirkwood led the Spartans offense with 13 points and six rebounds in the contest. Both Brianna Lewis and Quadijah Moore finished the match with eight points each. This is the second consecutive game in which Moore has recorded eight or more rebounds. Riley Popplewell led the Spartans in rebounds with nine boards in the match.
 
East Carolina had three players end the night in double-figures with Taniyah Thompson leading the way with 25 points and seven rebounds. Lashonda Monk added 17 points and a team nine assists and Raven Johnson contributed 10 points and a team high nine rebounds.
 
The Spartans return home to the Hodge Center, Tuesday, November 12 for the annual "Education Day" game against Western Carolina at 11:00am.  No admission will be charged for the contest with the Catamounts, with over 700 Spartanburg County school children slated to fill the Hodge Center.  The Spartans will host Mars Hill on Saturday, November 16. Tickets for the contest start at $8.00 for adults or $5.00 for youth (ages 3-17).
