
Spartans Finish Runner-Up at the River Landing Classic

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The USC Upstate women's golf team finished runner-up in the River Landing Classic on Tuesday afternoon after a final round score of 292.

"I'm proud of this group from start to finish," USC Upstate head golf coach Todd Lawton said. "This golf course is very difficult and we played it very well. Nothing you can do when another team puts the kind of numbers up that they did today, but overall I couldn't be more pleased we finished strong today. Things are looking up and I'm excited about the rest of the season."

Sophomore golfer Beem Pabismma shot a 72 in the final round to finish runner-up in the tournament. Pabsimma ended the week with a tournament high 46 pars in the contest. Senior Pan Paksanont and freshman Praew Nontarux posted their best rounds of the tournament with a 72 on the final day of action. Paksanont finished tied for 11th and posted the second most pars in the tournament with 39. Nontarux finished tied for 16th with a final score of 223.

Abigayle Hatcher shot a final round 78 and finished the tournament tied for 30th. Hatcher finished with five birdies in the tournament. Anna Chanthaphaeng shot a 76 in the last round and ended the tournament with a tournament best 10 birdies to lead the field. Kathryn Elliott finished tied for 45th and Caroline Heustess finished in 65th place, playing as individuals.

UNC Wilmington stormed back on Tuesday afternoon to steal the tournament away from the Spartans. UNC Wilmington broke the tournament record with a team score of 282 on Tuesday to finish with a final score of 881, just one stroke ahead of USC Upstate. Phu Khine of UNC Wilmington and Tereza Melecka tied for the individual championship with a final score of 216.
