Helping Upstate sponsors in time of need
4/1/2020 4:26:00 PM | General
As vastly as our world has changed in the last 20 days, it is hard to believe as a society, and we were going out to dinner, traveling freely and enjoying sporting events just three Wednesdays ago. Times have changed tremendously, and now businesses face unique challenges as everyone stays home to help battle the COVID-19 pandemic.
Â
To assist our business partners in need, USC Upstate Athletics has turned our social media channels into an additional avenue for our sponsors to share how this new way of life has changed their way of doing business. From carryout restaurant specials to new ways to test drive cars, special grocery shopping hours, and discounts on hotel rooms to use as temporary office space, there are many ways to support the many businesses that support the Spartans. On March 20th, the department began sharing this information as part of the Spartan Army sUPports initiative (#SpartanArmysUPports).
"Our marketing partners are vital to our success, and now maybe more than ever, we need to stand with them," said senior associate athletic director for external affairs Lenny Mathis. "As we learn about changes to operations or special offers, we will continue to share those via our social media platforms."Â
On March 1st, #SpartanArmy #JoinUP became the new unifying hashtag for Upstate Athletics. As part of the initiative to assist sponsors, a variation to the hashtag #SpartanArmysUPports – the capitalized "UP" is intentional - is applied to posts with sponsor-specific information.
