
Dakota McCaughan Signs with Upstate Women’s Basketball

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate women's basketball has signed incoming freshman Dakota McCaughan, as announced by head coach Tammy George.
McCaughan is from Seneca, Penn. and joins the Spartans out of Ridley High School. The dual-sport athlete lettered all four years in basketball and volleyball. During her time as a basketball player for the Green Raiders, she set a record for 92 threes made in a season and was the leading 3-point shooter in the county. She surpassed the 1,000 points milestone and averaged 15 points, five assists, and four steals per game. McCaughan also competed for the Philly Triple Threat.
She was a varsity team captain and racked up the honors in her four years at Ridley such as four-time All-Delco, three-time All-Catholic and All-Central, multiple All-Tournament selections, team MVP, and tournament MVP. She was also ranked in ESPN's Top 50 Point Guards. McCaughan helped her team to two District 12 Championships, the 2020 Central League Championship, and two state Final Four appearances.
Academically, McCaughan was a member of the Honor Roll and National Honor Society, and she graduated in the top 10 percent of her class. At Upstate, she plans to major in psychology with a minor in criminal justice.
