Series History
This is the eighth all-time meeting between USC Upstate and Hampton University dating back to the 1981-82 season. In the first ever match-up between the two programs the Spartans (then Rifles) defeated the Pirates 68-54 in route to an NAIA National Championship. Since joining the Division I ranks USC Upstate holds a 4-2 advantage in the series and the Spartans swept the season series a season ago. Last time out the Spartans trailed by as many as 17-poinhts, but 56 second half points helped Upstate to a 90-79 win. The victory secured a home game for the Spartans in the First Round of the Big South Tournament.

Ones to Watch
Upstate – Dalvin White (Norcross, Ga.) earned Co-Big South Player of the Week honors after a pair of career outings against Longwood last week.
Tommy Bruner (Columbia, S.C.) is averagining a team best 14.6 points per game and leads the team in steals with 51.
Everette Hammond (Silver Springs, Md.) is second on the team with 10.8 points per game and
Bryson Mozone (North Augusta, S.C.) is averaging an even 10.0 points per contest.
Nevin Zink (Newtown, Conn.) leads the team with 63 rebounds this season.

Hampton – Five Pirates are currently averaging double-figures in the scoring column this season. Davion Warren (20.5 ppg), Chris Shelton (11.3 ppg), Russell Dean (11.1 ppg), Marquis Goodwin (10.1 ppg) and Edward Oliver Hampton (10.0 ppg). Oliver-Hampton is leading the Pirates with 7.7 rebounds per game, while Dean is averaging a team best 6.8 assists per game. Warren is coming off back-to-back Big South Player of the Week honors and posted a career bets 32-point outing against UNC Asheville in game one of the series. Â
