SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Setting its sights on another run at a Big South Championship, USC Upstate softball and head coach Chris Hawkins are excited to reveal the team's 56-game 2022 schedule that includes 36 home games and three tournament weekends at Cyrill Softball Stadium.
 
The Spartans open the 2022 season hosting the four-team Spartan Classic from February 11-13, welcoming North Carolina Central, UMass, and Towson with nine games to be played over the three-day duration. The season opens on Feb. 11 as Upstate hosts North Carolina Central at 2 p.m. ET before hosting UMass at 4 p.m. The Spartans are back for two additional games on Feb. 12, playing Towson (1 p.m.) and UMass (5 p.m.) before wrapping the tournament on Feb. 13 with Towson at 1 p.m.
 
Upstate continues its 15-game, season-opening homestand on Feb. 18-20 as the program hosts the Upstate Classic, featuring Canisius, Northern Kentucky, and South Carolina State. The Spartans host Northern Kentucky (3 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.) on Feb. 18 and Feb. 19, respectively.
 
Following the Upstate Classic, the Spartans step away from tournament competition as Upstate and Canisius play a doubleheader on Feb. 21 beginning at 2:30 p.m.
 
The season's third weekend of competition sees Upstate host the Wings Etc. Classic as Cleveland State, Pittsburgh, and Tennessee Tech travel to Cyril Softball Stadium. The Spartans open the event with a Feb. 25 meeting with Tennessee Tech (1 p.m.) before facing Pittsburgh (1 p.m.) and Cleveland State (3 p.m.) in back-to-back games on Feb. 26. The tournament wraps for Upstate with a 12 p.m. meeting with Pittsburgh on Feb. 27.
 
Opening the month of March, Upstate wraps up its season-opening homestand with a stand-alone game with Appalachian State on March 1 at 3 p.m. before travelling to Deland, Fla. For the Stetson Invitational. The event features five games over three days from March 4-6 as the Spartans play Bethune-Cookman (12:30 p.m.) and Stetson (3:00 p.m.) on March 4, Bethune-Cookman (10:30 a.m.) and Stetson (5:00 p.m.) on March 5, and Florida International (10 a.m.) on March 6.
 
The conclusion of the Stetson Invitational brings upon the 2022 Big South slate as the Spartans play nine three-game series against conference competition. Upstate opens the slate hosting Longwood on March 11-12 while also hosting Campbell (March 18-19), Winthrop (April 1-2), Charleston Southern (April 15-16), and Hampton (April 30-May 1).
 
The Spartans' Big South road trips include Radford (March 26-27), North Carolina A&T (April 9-10), Gardner-Webb (April 22-23), and Presbyterian (May 6-7).
Interspersed amongst the team's conference schedule, Upstate has four non-conference doubleheaders, hosting South Carolina State on March 16, Furman on March 23, and East Tennessee State on March 30 while travelling to Western Carolina on April 6. The non-conference slate concludes with a single game at Georgia on April 20.
