Series History
Tuesday's meeting between USC Upstate and South Carolina marks the sixth all-time meeting in a series that dates back to 2008. The Gamecocks lead the series 4-1, taking the first three meetings in 2008, 2010, and 2011 and the latest meeting in 2018. The Spartans' lone victory in the series came in 2013 as Upstate claimed a six-point victory, 74-68.

Players to Watch
Upstate: Returning after averaging 9.3 points and 2.5 rebounds per game last season, senior guard
Dalvin White enters the 2021-22 season as the leading returning scorer for the Spartans. Finishing second on the team in total assists last season with 69, he ranked fourth in the Big South last season in assist to turnover ratio, posting 1.73 assists per turnover. White also led Upstate in steals last season, swiping 30 in 23 games.

South Carolina: Scoring 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting (3-of4 from three), North Texas transfer James Reese V was the Gamecocks leading scorer in its lone exhibition against Benedict College. At North Texas, he started 59 games while averaging 9.7 points per contest, leading the Mean Green to the 2021 NCAA Tournament Second Round following a Conference USA championship.
